MERS Transfers and Assignments

Effective November 19, 2009, CHFA will no longer accept Assignments from MERS-approved Participating Lenders.

If you have been identified as MERS Ready, you should continue registering all CHFA loans in MERS for any Reservations made on or after August 1, 2009. If the Reservation date is before August 1, CHFA will temporarily accept Assignments until November 30, 2009. No Assignments for MERS Ready Participating Lenders will be accepted after November 30.

If you are not using MERS, you must continue to follow the specific instructions to enable CHFA to register loans with MERS on your behalf; a fee of $6.95 will be deducted from the loan purchase. Participating Lenders who are not MERS-approved must also send in the CHFA Form 230M, Non-MERS Assignment of Deed of Trust. The original executed CHFA Form 230M, Non-MERS Assignment of Deed of Trust, must be sent for recording by the Participating Lender and will be required as a final Post Closing document.

Comprehensive explanation letters with instructions for all MERS processes were sent to Participating Lenders on July 24, 2009. The same information is also posted on CHFA's website for MERS Ready Lenders and for non-MERS Members.
