Happy Spring!

The calendar says it’s spring, however those of us who have lived in Colorado for awhile know that doesn’t always mean that winter is behind us. Let’s hope this year we’ll have one of those memorable springs with nice warm weather and the spring flowers actually have a chance to bloom!

REACH would appreciate your input - The May Section 8 Three Day Manager Certification Workshop filled so quickly we are considering offering the class again this fall. If you or any of your staff would be interested in attending the class this fall, please call or email me (even if you are already on our waiting list). We anticipate the class would be scheduled sometime in the early fall.

We have two classes remaining in March. We just had a couple of cancellations for Property Maintenance and Personal Safety next Tuesday afternoon and there is still one space available in the Grant Writing class.

Property Maintenance and Personal Safety
Safety should be everyone’s priority. This workshop offers maintenance and management a review of OSHA standards and worker’s compensation criteria to help verify that your program is right for your property. Some of the topics include: Chemical Safety, Electrical Safety, Personal Protective Equipment, including the respirator program, Blood-borne Pathogens, Workers’ Comp Claims Management, including modified duty policy, and Company and Property Specific Safety Policies. Our instructor has over 25 years experience in the apartment maintenance industry. Prioritize safety, meet OSHA standards, and save money on Workers’ Compensation. Keep everybody working “well”.

Date: Tuesday, March 25th
Time: Registration: 12:15 p.m. Class: 12:30 p.m. – 4:30 p.m.
Location: CHFA, 1981 Blake Street
Instructor: Jeff Boyd, COS, CPO, MORS, RAM
Who Should Attend: All maintenance staff and management involved in writing maintenance policies

Grant in a Day
If you are involved in writing grants have you heard that there will be a new Colorado Common Grant Application (CGA) but aren’t sure what that means? Have you sat down to apply for a grant and realized you just don’t know where to start? This interactive, hands-on workshop will help jump-start the writing of your new common grant application. A Senior Resource Development Associate and member of the committee that drafted the new CGA will give you insight as to what the foundations are really hoping to get from the new application. You will learn the rationale for each of the questions and tips for responding to each question. By the end of the day, you will have a solid understanding of how to best position your organization using the new CGA, possible sources of grants, and the beginnings of a draft proposal.

Date: Friday, March 28th
Time: Registration: 8:45 a.m. Class: 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
Location: Adams County Human Services Building, 7190 Colorado Blvd., Commerce City (303.227.2075)
Instructor: Lisa Cirincione, JVA Consulting, LLC
Who Should Attend: Owners, managers, community developers or anyone currently or potentially involved in grant applications
