Tax Credit Stakeholders,

Last Friday, CHFA's national trade association, the National Council of State Housing Agencies (NCSHA), and the Affordable Housing Tax Credit Coalition, which represents the major syndicators and investors, collaborated with 36 organizations to sign the attached letter endorsing a four-point Housing Credit solution that includes new gap funding, the House-passed exchange provision, and two provisions designed to increase investor interest in the Credit—carry back and acceleration.

NCSHA initiated this action to overcome a persistent perception among key congressional housing and tax leaders that the Housing Credit community is not unified around a Housing Credit solution and that, in particular, the syndicator/investor community opposes the exchange provision. The letter makes clear that the groups prefer the comprehensive, four-point solution but acknowledges that any of the proposals taken individually has value and each would help with a different aspect of the problem.

Earlier today, CHFA sent a copy of this letter to Colorado Senators Mark Udall and Michael Bennet. As our Housing Credit stakeholders and partners, we invite each of you to contact Senator Udall and Senator Bennet as well and convey your support for Housing Credit funding.
