Expand your knowledge and meet your career goals with chfareach educational tracks!

We have picked six areas of interest to address current market trends and meet the needs of staff at all levels of your multifamily property, from management to maintenance.

Participation is easy! Once you have enrolled in a track, attend six classes within that track to receive a Certificate of Participation. We will also give you a booklet to record class participation. Together, these are a great way to showcase your knowledge base and your commitment to your affordable housing community. 

Learn more about the tracks below, enroll, and then use the color-coded key in each class schedule to identify which classes apply to your track. You can enroll in more than one track at a time and some classes may apply to multiple tracks. Start whenever you like and take as long as you need; the classes never expire.


Learn about policies and procedures such as preventative maintenance and get hands-on training opportunities in workshops (i.e., electricity, wiring).
Who it’s for: This track will increase the skill level and knowledge of maintenance staff, maintenance supervisors, and in some cases may be beneficial for managers.

Develop and maintain positive relationships with tenants, potential tenants, and coworkers. Topics will include marketing techniques, tenant retention, resolving conflicts, effective management practices, etc.
Who it’s for: Managers, leasing agents, and other office staff will find these classes beneficial.

Resident Service Coordinators

Human services and tenant advocacy are the focus in this track. Classes and workshops will include such topics as crisis intervention, resident programs, effective communication with mentally ill residents, etc.
Who it’s for: Service coordinators and community builders, as well as office staff in developments that don’t have professional tenant advocates will benefit from these classes.

Green Initiatives   

Learn how to preserve natural resources and protect the environment at your community. Classes will cover energy and water conservation, reducing air born pathogens, using environmentally safe chemicals for cleaning and landscape maintenance, reducing risks from mold and asbestos, etc.
Who it’s for: All staff will benefit from these topics.

Personal and Professional Development

This track will cover a wide range of topics and REACH welcomes your suggestions. Past and future workshops that qualify include dealing with difficult people, reducing stress, time management, personal and professional boundaries, mediation, and conflict resolution.

Affordable Housing

Enrich your skill set with this track focusing on occupancy and other regulatory issues pertaining to Section 8, Tax Credits, CHFA loans, and other miscellaneous programs. Standard occupancy classes will be offered on a rotating basis; special topics and HUD updates will be scheduled as needed. Although CHFA’s compliance department will continue to offer Basic and Advanced Tax Credit trainings, REACH will offer LIHTC related classes on an as needed basis for updates and other special topics.
Who it’s for: All managers and office staff will benefit from topics applicable to their development.
