Gov. Ritter Recovery Update: Making the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act Work for Colorado
March 9, 2009

"Just a few weeks after President Obama signed the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act into law in Colorado, we are starting to put these funds to work for you.
We're working as quickly as possible to do what the people of Colorado want us to do: create jobs, strengthen our economy and rebuild our infrastructure.

We're making early progress with transportation and energy projects. Funds for health care, unemployment benefits and public safety are headed to Colorado. And we will be able to improve classroom education thanks to these funds.

Here are a few of this week's recovery developments: My office is bringing an unprecedented level of oversight, accountability and transparency to this effort. I've established an accountability and oversight board, and you will be able to monitor projects and investments through www.colorado.gov/recovery, regular e-mail updates such as this one, and by visiting the federal http://www.recovery.gov/ website.
This is your money. You deserve to know how it's being spent and where it's going.

If you have questions, suggestions or concerns about recovery efforts, please contact me and my office by clicking here.

Forward this e-mail to friends, family and colleagues so they can sign up for recovery updates.

Sincerely,
Bill Ritter, Jr.
Governor"

Beware of Circulating Economic Stimulus Scams
March 6, 2009

There are reports of economic stimulus scams circulating through e-mail and malicious websites.

Some of the email scam messages request personal information, which can then be used for identity theft; other scam messages offer to deposit the stimulus funds directly into users' bank accounts. If users provide their banking information, the attackers may be able to withdraw funds from the users' accounts.

The website scams entice users by claiming that they can help them get money from the stimulus fund. These websites typically request payment for their services. If users provide their credit card information, the attackers running the malicious sites may make unauthorized charges to the card, or charge users more than the agreed upon terms.
