Demand for LIHTC in Round Two Exceeds Availability by 5-to-1

CHFA received 20 applications for Low Income Housing Tax Credits (LIHTC) during the second allocation round of 2010. Combined, the applications are seeking over $21.1 million in tax credits, placing demand in excess of LIHTC available for allocation by a ratio of 5:1.

Approximately $6 million in LIHTCs is available for allocation in Round Two, with $1.25 million set aside for the Denver Housing Authority’s 10th and Osage development. Applications were received for developments in Arvada, Aurora, Bayfield, Brighton, Canon City, Colorado Springs, Denver, Fort Collins, Glenwood Springs, Golden, Lafayette, and Loveland.

Among the applications received:

  • 17 are new construction;
  • Three (3) are acquisition/rehab;
  • 10 are for senior housing; and
  • Three (3) are TOD
