CHFA Hires New Community Relationship Managers Serving Western and Southwest Colorado

(DENVER) – Colorado Housing and Finance Authority (CHFA) is pleased to welcome Margie Joy and Christopher Lopez as its newest community relationship managers serving the Western Slope and southwest Colorado. In their roles, Joy and Lopez will help CHFA advance its work to strengthen Colorado by investing in affordable housing and economic development.
CHFA partners with the private, nonprofit, and public sectors to support affordable homeownership, the development and preservation of affordable rental housing, and help small- and medium-sized businesses access capital. CHFA is proud to have invested $2.2 billion in Colorado’s western and southwest regions since its inception in 1973.
About Margie Joy, Western Slope Community Relationship ManagerJoy is based out of CHFA’s Grand Junction office and will support Delta, Eagle, Garfield, Gunnison, Mesa, Moffat, Montrose, Pitkin, and Rio Blanco counties.
She joins CHFA with more than 25 years of experience in communications, outreach, crisis management, and community development. For the past 15 years, she managed community outreach and foundation work for Pioneers Medical Center in Meeker. In years prior, Joy served as director of investor relations for Northern Colorado Economic Development, and community involvement officer for North Front Range Metropolitan Planning Council.
Joy’s community volunteerism has included work with the Meeker Chamber of Commerce, Destination Imagination Youth Programs, Northwest Rural Philanthropy Days, and she currently serves on the Hope West-Meeker Advisory Board. Joy holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in public relations from Northern Arizona University.
About Chris Lopez, Southwest Colorado Community Relationship ManagerLopez is based out of Durango and will serve Montezuma, La Plata, Dolores, San Juan, San Miguel, Ouray, and Archuleta counties, as well as the Ute Mountain Ute and Southern Ute Tribes.
Lopez’s professional background includes community and economic development, affordable housing, land use planning and entitlement work, and natural resources management. His most recent experience includes work with La Plata County as a land use and natural resources planner, Southwest Conservation Corps, and in the private sector as a landman, regulatory specialist, and project manager for three different oil and gas exploration and production companies.
Prior to moving to Durango in 2006, Lopez worked for the Regional Development Corporation and Siete del Norte Community Development Corporation in New Mexico. He holds a Master of Community and Regional Planning from the University of New Mexico.
