social media users help raise over $5,000 for the center for african american health

(DENVER) – Colorado Housing and Finance Authority (CHFA) is donating $5,210 to The Center for African American Health (CAA Health), a nonprofit organization that works to empower African American and Black Metro Denver communities to make informed health decisions that benefit the whole person through education, collaboration, and advocacy.

The donation was the result of Like It Forward, CHFA’s annual social media campaign to benefit Colorado nonprofits whose work aligns with CHFA’s mission to invest in affordable housing and community development. Over a two-and-a-half-week period, CHFA invited the public to visit CHFA’s social media channels to like and share posts featuring information about CAA Health. For each like and share the posts received, CHFA donated $5 to CAA Health. CHFA then matched the amount raised by the campaign.

The $5,210 donation will help CAA Health in its work serving as a leading health equity and family resources organization, helping to improve access to quality physical and mental health care, healthy food, economic stability, and social/community support. In 2021, CAA Health directly served more than 6,730 clients.

“It is only though our many partnerships that we are able to do this important work. We are grateful to CHFA for selecting CAA Health for this year’s Like it Forward campaign and the opportunity to share our story,” said Deidre Johnson, CEO and executive director of CAA Health.

In 2022, CAA Health is celebrating 25 years of empowering the community to live well. The organization was originally developed through health programs of the Metro Denver Black Church Initiative, operated as a program of The Piton Foundation, and then established as an independent 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization in 1997.

“CAA Health is an essential community organization that provides programs and services to meet critical health needs of African American individuals and families. It has been CHFA’s honor to share with our audiences the amazing work they do and advance their efforts with the 2022 Like It Forward donation,” said Cris White, CHFA’s executive director and CEO.

Like It Forward 2022 marks CHFA’s eighth annual social media giving campaign of its kind. The campaign was promoted from November 28 through December 15 on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, CHFA’s website, and in various CHFA communications.
