golfers raise $105,000 for montbello organizing committee

(DENVER) – Colorado Housing and Finance Authority’s (CHFA) annual David W. Herlinger Golf Tournament raised $105,000 for Montbello Organizing Committee (MOC) on Tuesday, August 12, 2025. Based in Denver’s Montbello neighborhood, MOC is a community organization dedicated to energizing and supporting Montbello stakeholders and resident leaders in their efforts to proactively and responsibly tackle the critical issues impacting their quality of life.

“We are extremely grateful for this support from CHFA and appreciate the involvement of all who participated in the tournament,” said Donna Garnett, chief executive officer of MOC. “The Montbello neighborhood is a strong and vibrant community with many challenges. CHFA has been a champion for our work for many years, supporting our affordable housing and economic development endeavors, and now providing much-needed support in a time when our organization is navigating financial uncertainty and the elevated needs of our neighbors in so many areas. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you.”

MOC was formed from a diverse group of Montbello residents that began meeting in 2013 to establish ways to address the issues that Montbello residents face. Today, it operates as a nonprofit community development corporation with a broad range of initiatives including affordable housing, mental health support, youth programming, health and wellness coaching, transportation solutions, and a community grocery store that is set to open by the end of the year.

“Through their leadership in advancing affordable housing, economic development, and other community-led priorities, MOC’s work is making a meaningful impact in Denver’s Montbello community,” said Thomas Bryan, executive director and chief executive officer of CHFA. “Congratulations to MOC, and thanks to all who participated in this year’s tournament to raise funds to support this excellent organization.”

CHFA’s annual golf tournament raises proceeds to benefit a local nonprofit whose work coincides with CHFA’s mission of affordable housing and community development. The 2025 tournament was held at Arrowhead Golf Club in Littleton, Colorado. The event is named in memory of CHFA’s former Executive Director, David W. Herlinger, who passed away in 2012. It serves as a reminder of his passion for the game of golf, and for helping local nonprofit organizations whose work supports affordable housing and community development in Colorado.
