CHFA sponsors homebuyer education classes statewide through a network of CHFA-approved homebuyer education providers. A class can help you become a homeownership success story!

CHFA has transitioned back to our pre-pandemic homebuyer education model.

So, what’s changing?

  • In-person and live webinar classes continue to be free.
  • Any borrower beginning a CHFA-approved online course on or after November 1, 2022, will be required to pay a $75 fee.
  • Borrowers who have started to take a CHFA- approved online course prior to November 1, 2022, will not be charged this fee if they used the available coupon code upon registration.
Who Provides CHFA-Approved Homebuyer Education?

Classes are available across the state through CHFA-approved homebuyer education providers.

Both in-person and online options are available in English and in Spanish. Contact the homebuyer education provider if language translation or ASL services are needed. All in-person classes are offered in facilities accessible for individuals with disabilities.

Class Completion Required

  • All CHFA borrowers must individually and independently register and complete a CHFA-approved class prior to their mortgage loan closing date.
  • Each borrower must obtain their own certificate of completion. See below for important details on receiving your certificate.
  • Certificates are valid for 12 months; a borrower must be under contract to purchase a home before expiration of the certificate.
We recommend you take the class early! Waiting may delay or postpone your closing.
