adu finance programs

Colorado Office of Economic Development and International Trade (OEDIT) logoCHFA is pleased to announce the forthcoming launch of the Accessory Dwelling Unit (ADU) Finance Programs. The programs will provide loans, credit enhancements, and interest rate buydowns to eligible lenders to support the construction or conversion of ADUs for low- and moderate-income borrowers and/or tenants in ADU Supportive Jurisdictions, as certified by the Department of Local Affairs (DOLA). Additional information regarding ADU Supportive Jurisdictions is available on the DOLA website.

The following programs will support the construction or conversion of ADUs:

  • Relending: The ADU Relending Program will provide loans to eligible nonprofits, public housing authorities, and community development financial institutions (CDFIs) offering financing to eligible borrowers for the construction or conversion of ADUs.
  • Credit Enhancement: The ADU Credit Enhancement Program will support lenders offering affordable loans to eligible low- and moderate-income borrowers.
  • Interest Rate Buydown: The ADU Interest Rate Buydown Program will help lower interest rates on loans made to eligible low- and moderate-income borrowers.

The ADU Relending Program will launch in December 2025, and additional details will be shared soon. Details regarding Credit Enhancement and Interest Rate Buydown programs will be announced in early 2026. Please visit the CHFA website for additional information about the ADU Finance Programs.

The ADU Finance Programs are administered by CHFA under a contract with the Colorado Economic Development Commission by and through the Office of Economic Development and International Trade (OEDIT).
