Residences at Delta groundbreaking - a group of people with shovelsSeveral developments supported by CHFA recently celebrated milestones. From groundbreaking ceremonies to ribbon cuttings, events were held throughout the state to showcase:

Avenida del Sol, Denver

On Tuesday, May 3rd, Avenida del Sol celebrated its grand opening. This development provides 80 new affordable apartments anchored with ground floor commercial space in Denver’s Westwood neighborhood. The development is adjacent to several commercial buildings, small industrial facilities, grocery store, family clinic, and a children’s educational facility. The development offers one-, two-, and three-bedroom units and serves residents with incomes at 30 to 80 percent of the Area Median Income. CHFA was proud to support Avenida del Sol by awarding federal 4 percent and state Housing Tax Credits in 2019.

Academy Place Apartments, Broomfield

A grand opening celebration was held on April 26th at Academy Place Apartments in Broomfield. This affordable rental housing development will offer 50 new apartments serving individuals and families. The developer, Summit Housing Group, partnered with local family resource center, Broomfield FISH, to provide services and referrals to residents.

CHFA was proud to support Academy Place by awarding federal 9 percent Housing Tax Credits in 2019. Academy Place is the first family development supported with Housing Tax Credits built in the City and County of Broomfield in more than 20 years. CHFA Community Development Director, Steve Johnson, spoke at the grand opening.

Caraway, Denver

Caraway celebrating its grand opening on April 21st in Denver. Caraway provides 116 new affordable apartments, 12 of which will serve individuals aging out of foster care. The development involved the adaptive re-use of the former Adams County Human Services headquarters. CHFA was proud to support Caraway by awarding federal 4 percent and state Housing Tax Credits in 2019. CHFA Marketing and Community Relations Director, Jerilynn Francis, spoke at the event.

Residences at Delta, Delta

On April 20th, Residences at Delta celebrating its groundbreaking. When complete, the development will provide 50 affordable apartments to residents ages 62 and older. The development is being built adjacent to Delta Housing Authority’s affordable family housing developments, thus creating a multigenerational campus serving a spectrum of ages, incomes, and household types. CHFA was proud to support this development by awarding federal 9 percent Housing Tax Credits in 2021. CHFA Community Development Director, Steve Johnson, spoke at the groundbreaking.

The Rose on Colfax, Denver

A groundbreaking ceremony was held on April 7th at the site of The Rose on Colfax. This 82-unit affordable rental housing development will support families and include construction of an Early Childhood Education (ECE) center operated by Mile High Early Learning (MHEL). Residents with young children will receive a preference, if eligible, for enrollment at the ECE. The City of Denver is supporting the project by providing the land at no cost. This development is an equitable transit-oriented development and will provide NECO RTD passes to all households. CHFA was proud to support The Rose on Colfax by awarding federal and state Housing Tax Credits in 2020.

Village at Solid Rock, Colorado Springs

On April 22nd, Village at Solid Rock broke ground in southeast Colorado Springs. When complete, this development will support individuals and families with incomes ranging from 30 to 80 percent of the Area Median Income by offering 77 affordable apartments, 29 of which will be three-bedroom units. The development site is walkable to schools and public transit. CHFA was proud to support this development by awarding federal 4 percent and state Housing Tax Credits in 2020.

Viña Apartments, Denver

A grand opening celebration was held at Viña Apartments on May 4th. Viña Apartments provides 150 new apartments in Denver’s Elyria-Swansea neighborhood. The development is part of the Urban Land Conservancy’s six-acre master planned development, which features a 99-year ground lease to help maintain long-term affordability for residents.

Later this year, Viña Apartments will also include the Tepeyac Community Health Center, a federally qualified health clinic, to serve vital healthcare needs of residents and the community, as well as retail space that will include a grocery store, increasing fresh food access in the area. CHFA Executive Director and CEO, Cris White, spoke at the grand opening.
